We started with planting trees
It’s a story of hands and feet. 👋 👣
You may have noticed a recent boom in tree planting schemes by which companies and/or individuals can plant trees as a way of offsetting carbon emissions.
As a micro-sized company, we produce a micro-sized carbon footprint, but just how micro is actually firmly in our hands. In essence, what we do and how we do it has a direct impact. Our aim from the start has been to become a climate positive workforce whilst keeping our carbon footprint as micro as possible.
This is why one of the first things we did was to conduct research into the right environmental organisation to partner with. After hours of painstaking research (which, by the way, is all totally worth it if you want to get something right first time) we discovered Ecologi.
Ecologi is a platform for real climate action. They facilitate the funding of carbon offset projects and tree planting around the world. Their mission is to remove 50% of global CO2 emissions by 2040 and responsibly plant billions of trees every year. To do this they call on individuals and businesses to take personal responsibility and help tackle the biggest threat of our generation.
Taken directly from their mission statement they say “Collectively, with a little input from a lot of people, we all have the power to secure our future.” Something we wholeheartedly agree with.
Ecologi has planted over 8 million trees so far and fund only the best Gold Standard Projects. Their tree planting partner Eden Projects reduces extreme poverty and restores healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year. Gold Standard is a certification body that works to ensure every penny of climate and development funding goes as far as it can.
